GTA Online Update Broke A Fan Favorite Tiny Detail In GTA V
Spider-Man 2 Is Getting A PC Port Sooner Than Expected
The wait for Spider-Man 2 on PC is almost over. The PlayStation 5 exclusive about Peter Parker’s showdown with Venom arrives on Steam in January of next year. Unfortunately, it will still require a PSN login.
Sony announced its latest PC port during New York Comic Con 2024. Originally launched on PS5 in October 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available to play on Steam starting January 30, 2025. That’s a span of just 15 months, showing that the lag time between Sony first-party exclusives hitting PS5 and later coming to PC may be getting shorter as the company tries to find a bigger audience for its costly blockbusters.
However, Spider-Man 2 on PC will continue a controversial trend of PlayStation games still requiring PSN logins on Steam, even when they are offline and single-player. God of War Ragnarök, which came to PC last month, suffered a slew of negative Steam reviews as a backlash to the login requirement which first became a major flashpoint earlier this year when Helldivers 2 exploded in popularity.
Come January, Spider-Man 2 will join the first game and the Miles Morales spin-off which came to PC last year. Spider-Man 2 is bigger and prettier in every way, though its larger scope doesn’t always translate to a more impactful story or more interesting open-world exploration. It does have some top-notch side quests though, and will no doubt benefit from plenty of player mods that fans end up creating for it. Nixxes Software is working on the port, the same studio that is preparing to release Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.
Insomniac Games currently has a slew of other Marvel games in the pipeline, including Wolverine which is believed to be launching as early as next year, as well as a possibly multi-part Spider-Man 3 and plans for X-Men games as part of an ongoing licensing agreement with Disney. Those unannounced projects were revealed last year as part of a malicious hack of the studio’s private information.
